Courses for MCSA Support Uncovered

By Jason Kendall | January 21, 2010

The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator course is a perfect match for anyone hoping to work as a network supporter. Whether you already have experience but want to improve your CV with an acknowledged certification, or you are a beginner in the world of computers, you should soon be able to choose a program to suit your requirements.

Each scenario needs specific course material, so verify that you’ve got the correct program prior to spending your money. Search for a training provider that talks with you so they get to know what you’d like to do, and can help you work out what you’ll be doing, before they select your course.

A lot of students think that the state educational system is still the most effective. So why then is commercial certification becoming more popular with employers?

Industry now recognises that for an understanding of the relevant skills, proper accreditation from the likes of Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA is closer to the mark commercially – for much less time and money.

They do this through focusing on the actual skills required (together with a relevant amount of associated knowledge,) rather than trawling through all the background ‘padding’ that computer Science Degrees often do – to fill a three or four year course.

The crux of the matter is this: Recognised IT certifications give employers exactly what they’re looking for – the title is a complete giveaway: for example, I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Windows XP Administration and Configuration’. Consequently employers can look at their needs and which qualifications are required to fulfil that.

Often, trainers provide mainly work-books and reference manuals. This can be very boring and not ideal for remembering.

Studies in learning psychology have shown that we remember much more when we involve as many senses as possible, and we get physically involved with the study process.

Interactive audio-visual materials featuring instructor demo’s and practice lab’s beat books hands-down. And you’ll actually enjoy doing them.

Be sure to get a training material demonstration from the training company. The package should contain slide-shows, instructor-led videos and lab’s for you to practice your skills in.

Opt for CD and DVD ROM based physical training media every time. You can then avoid all the difficulties of internet connection failure and issues with signal quality.

Does job security truly exist anymore? In the UK for instance, where business constantly changes its mind on a whim, it seems increasingly unlikely.

But a sector experiencing fast growth, where staff are in constant demand (through a big shortfall of properly qualified people), creates the conditions for real job security.

The 2006 UK e-Skills analysis demonstrated that more than 26 percent of IT jobs are unfilled as an upshot of a chronic shortage of appropriately certified professionals. So, for every four jobs that are available around IT, employers are only able to find certified professionals for three of the four.

This disquieting truth highlights the requirement for more commercially certified Information Technology professionals throughout the United Kingdom.

No better time or market circumstances is ever likely to exist for gaining qualification for this quickly expanding and budding business.

The somewhat scary thought of finding your first computer related job can be made easier by training colleges, through a Job Placement Assistance facility. The honest truth is that it’s not as hard as some people make out to land a job – once you’re trained and certified; because there’s still a great need for IT skills in the UK today.

Ideally you should have CV and Interview advice and support though; additionally, we would recommend everyone to get their CV updated as soon as they start a course – don’t put it off until you’ve qualified.

It’s possible that you won’t have even passed your first exam when you’ll secure your initial junior support position; although this can’t and won’t happen if your CV isn’t in front of employers.

You’ll normally experience quicker results from a specialist independent regional employment service than any course provider’s national service, because they’ll know local industry and the area better.

Just be sure that you don’t put hundreds of hours of effort into your studies, and then do nothing more and leave it up to everyone else to find you a job. Take responsibility for yourself and start looking for yourself. Invest the same resource into getting a good job as you did to get trained.
